Seeing Eye: All aboard for model train displays in Austintown

OPEN HOUSE IN AUSTINTOWN: The Youngstown Model Railroad Association will hold its final fall holiday open house noon to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the association building at Raccoon and Four Mile Run roads, Austintown. The association is one of the few clubs in the country that has two complete displays with “O” scale and “HO” scale. Both display layouts feature more than 100 scale miles of track. A courtesy donation of $5 per person is requested with children age 11 and younger free with an adult. For information, visit www.ymra.org

SCHOOL FUNDRAISER: Kirkmere Elementary School’s book fair, a fundraiser for the school, is open to the public. The fair, an annual fundraiser, is open 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at the school, 2851 Kirk Road. All proceeds go into Scholastic Dollars for teachers to purchase books for the classroom. The goal this year is $3,000.

OSTOMY SUPPORT: The Youngstown area ostomy support group will meet 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital, 8401 Market St.. WREATHS FOR VETERANS: Christmas wreaths for veterans in North Jackson Cemetery will be placed Dec. 14. There are more than 300 veterans buried at the cemetery. A program will be held 11 a.m. Dec. 14 on placing wreaths on gravesites. Family members and friends of veterans are asked to place a wreath. The event is being sponsored by the Jackson Citizens Association and JM 4H Livestock Club. Wreaths are $10 each. Make donations to the Jackson Township Citizens Association, P.O. Box 422, North Jackson, 44451 and write wreath in the memo line.
