LIVE NATIVITY: Disciples Christian Church, 565 Boardman-Canfield Road, will hold a live nativity with animals from 1 to 3 p.m,. CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION: St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 220 N. Walnut St., Youngstown, will mark its centennial anniversary. The Rev. Joseph DiStefano is the parish priest. A cocktail reception and grand banquet today and church service and luncheon Sunday will include His Eminence Metropolitan Savas from the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Pittsburgh.

ADVENT SPEAKER SERIES: The St. Charles Borromeo Parish faith formation committee will hold an Advent speaker series 7:40 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. Wednesday and Dec. 18 in the St. Matthew Room at the church, 7345 Westview Drive, Boardman. Speakers who will share their stories are Irene Hite on Wednesday and Anne Kravitz on Dec. 18.

MYSTERY OF CHRISTMAS: First Congregational Church of Wayne, corner of Routes 322 and 193, will hold the Mystery of Christmas program 6 p.m. Dec. 14. The program will tell of the prophecy of the coming Messiah and his birth in scripture and song. There will be a candlelight service.

OLD-FASHIONED CHRISTMAS: Corner House Christian Church, 6954 Chestnut Ridge Road, Hubbard, will hold an Old-Fashioned Christmas with a sing-a-long and judged chili contest 5:30 p.m. Dec. 15. Peanut butter is being collected for the Lifelein Missions Haiti Project.

DISCUSSION SET: The Society of St. John Chrysostom (Y-W Chapter) in cooperation with SS. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church will be holding a discussion on “How the Interplay of Politics and Religion Define Current Ukrainian Culture and Society” 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at SS. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 1025 N. Belle Vista Ave. The program will be presented by Greg Ulrich.

CHRISTMAS CONCERT: First Presbyterian Church, 28 E. Park Ave., Columbiana, will hold a free Christmas concert sponsored by the Concerts Under the Dome 6 p.m. Sunday.

HOLIDAY CONCERT: Zion Hill Church of the Brethern, 14550 New Buffalo Road, Columbiana, will host God’s Quad Quartet in concert 6 p.m. Dec. 15. The concert is free.

WOMAN CONNECTION: Youngstown South Christian Woman’s Connection luncheon will be held 11:30 a.m.Wednesday at Avion on the Water Banquet Center, 2177 E. Western Reserve Road, Canfield. The topic is “Here Comes Santa Claus” featuring a Santa’s gift giveaway. GRIEF SEMINAR: The Bereavement Ministry of the Union Baptist Church, 528 Lincoln Ave., Youngstown, will present a grief seminar 6 p.m. Tuesday. Special guest is Karen Lewis, a bereavement facilitator with Hospice of the Valley. The program is coping with the grief through the holidays and special days. The program is free to the public,

SINGING BOWL MEDITATION: Unity Centre for Spiritual Living, 1226 Naylor Lloyd Road, Liberty, will hold a Singing Bowl Meditation 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. The group meditation will be conducted by Maria and Calvin Wagner from the Center for Sound Therapy in Boardman. The meditation is free, but donations or love offerings will be accepted.

CELEBRATING JESUS’ BIRTH: The Sisters of the Humility of Mary will celebrate the holiday season with their annual Nativity Display, an indoor Advent tradition featuring hundreds of nativity sets from around the world.

The Villa Maria Nativity Display will be noon to 5 p.m. Sunday at Villa Maria Community Center, 288 Villa Drive, Villa Maria, Pa. Admission and parking are free.

The event also will include entertainment from local musicians and choirs, and unique Christmas gifts.

INTERFAITH CHOIR: Simple Gifts Interfaith Choir is planning a performance with the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra for March 2020. The 80-voice choir will perform in collaboration with Singers Together and The Youngstown Connection for the YSO’s program titled, “Spiritual Journey: The Road to Peace and Freedom,” featuring world-renowned tenor Lawrence Brownlee.

Simple Gifts Interfaith Choir is comprised of singers from Mahoning, Trumbull, Columbiana and Portage counties, as well as Mercer and Lawrence counties in Pennsylvania. All singers are welcome to participate.
