GIVING SPIRIT: Free quart containers will be given out with any purchase while supplies last on Wednesday at local Dairy Queens.

The containers will be filled for free with any menu purchase on that day. The event is being held to give back for Thanksgiving.

Participating stores include Austintown DQ, 146 N. Canfield Niles Road; Boardman DQ, 6120 Market St.; Canfield DQ, 101 S. Broad St.; Columbiana DQ, 44844 state Route 14; and Cornersburg DQ 3555 S. Meridian Road.

FOOD / TOY COLLECTIONS: Apostolakis Honda, Elm Road, Bazetta, and Shenango Honda, East State Street, Hermitage, Pa., have teamed up with WFMJ for their annual “Feed Our Valley” campaign.

Community members can bring any nonperishable food item to Apostolakis Honda or Shenango Honda to be donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley. The Food Bank stores and distributes food to 160 hunger-relief organizations in Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties. Partners include church pantries, homeless shelters and soup kitchens.

In addition, both locations are also also accepting donations for the U.S Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots campaign. Toys are provided to hundreds of needy children in Mahoning and Trumbull Counties and Mercer County.

CHRISTMAS SIGN UP: Emmanual Care Center in Girard is accepting sign-ups for Christmas through Dec. 6. Families who are registered at the center can call 330-545-4301 and register children ages infant to 12 years. The center will distribute Christmas gifts 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 17.

Any individual or group interested in adopting a family or child for Christmas can call the center. Items can also be donated at the center.

DR. SEUSS MUSICAL: Dr. Seuss’ beloved characters will come to life in Seussical the Musical, a magical musical at Canfield High School. Cat in the Hat and his friends bring to life an original story.

The program is 7 p.m. Thursday to Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for students.
