Seeing Eye: Bigfoot Weekend ahead in Mill Creek Park

BIGFOOT WEEKEND: A family-friendly Bigfoot Weekend will be held Friday through Sunday at Mill Creek Park. Local investigator and educator Amy Bue will share her knowledge of how to conduct an investigation and how to collect evidence while sharing her experience of a Bigfoot sighting. Weekend activities include night investigations 6 to 8 p.m. Friday for teens and adults with stories and s’mores around the campfire; children friendly stations from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday with their own investigation and campfire and a “Bigfoot Fact or Fiction?” presentation on sightings in Mahoning County from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, with sharing of stories from audience members. PET BLESSING: The annual pet blessing in honor of St. Francis of Assisi will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the garden area of Youngstown St. Patrick Church, located on Cleveland Street. All pets, large and small, are welcome. For more information, contact the parish office, 330-743-1109.

WIZARDING WEEKEND: YSU Ward Beecher Planetarium’s Wizarding Weekend will take place 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, and 12:30 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the planetarium. It will be a magical weekend to celebrate Harry Potter. Learn about the night sky and how it relates to the witching world. Free admission. Call 330-941-3616 for more information.

MAKE A PUPPET: OH! WOW! is holding a Make Sock Puppets program for all ages from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday. Work with OH!WOW staff to make unique puppets.

SCOUT POPCORN: Canfield’s Scout Troop 9025 Boys and Scout Troop 8025 Girls at Canfield United Methodist Church will be selling Scouting popcorn on different weekends at Parks Garden Center and several Giant Eagle stores in the area. Scouts will be showing and selling the Pecatonica River Popcorn brand of products to help fund their camping, awards and other unit programs and activities for the upcoming year.

Members of both troops will be selling Scouting Popcorn from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Austintown Giant Eagle store, 5220 Mahoning Ave.; Oct. 12 at Parks Garden Center, 9010 Youngstown-Salem Road, Canfield; and Oct. 13 at the Canfield Giant Eagle in the Colonial Plaza, 525 E. Main St.

This year once again The Ohio State Tin, Cleveland Indians and the Cleveland Browns varieties are available. They will also have Black Squirrel Blend Coffee, Breakfast Blend Coffee and Black Squirrel Decaf Coffee. You can send a gift of popcorn to our military men and women, their families and veterans’ organizations.
