Continued unemployment claims drop nearly 3,400 from previous week

Staff report Ohioans filed 47,250 continued unemployment claims during April 12-18, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reported Thursday. The number was 3,373 fewer than the previous week. The agency reported that 5,377 initial unemployment claims were filed last week. The number was 494 more than the previous week. WASHINGTON (AP) — A U.S. soldier involved in the military operation to capture Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has been charged with using classified information about the mission to win more than $400,000 in an online betting market, federal officials announced Thursday. WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court on Wednesday sided with Michigan in ruling that the state’s lawsuit seeking to shut down a section of an aging pipeline beneath a Great Lakes channel will stay in state court.
