Consumer uncertainty slows April auto sales

New vehicle sales in April fell approximately 15% in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties compared to the same time last year, the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association reported this month. Franchised dealers in the tricounty area sold 2,442 new vehicles last month compared to 2,854 in April 2025. For the year, 8,752 vehicles left Valley lots, a 2.8% drop from 2025. NEW YORK (AP) — The U.S. stock market fell from its records Friday and joined a worldwide drop for stocks after higher oil prices sent a shiver through the bond market. Stocks that had been caught up in the euphoria around artificial-intelligence technology led the way lower. The S&P 500 fell 1.2% from its all-time high set the day before. Staff report Ashore Manufacturing Group, headquartered in Berlin Center, has completed its acquisition of Concept-4, a precision machine shop focused on tool and die operations with deep roots in the Mahoning Valley. The transaction marks a new chapter for the business, with full retention of existing staff, continuation of all current operations and a roadmap for modernization and growth.
