Jobs services issues weekly unemployment report

Staff report The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reported Thursday that Ohioans filed 4,754 initial unemployment claims last week, which were 900 fewer than the previous week. Ohioans filed 40,552 continued unemployment claims last week, which was 711 more than the previous week. The total number of claims filed from May 17-23 was 45,306. Ohio’s unemployment rate in April was 3.9%. The national unemployment rate in April was 4.3%. Ohio’s labor force participation rate in April was 61.9%. The national labor force participation rate in April was 61.8%.

Workers receive schedules to start at Amazon facility Amazon has issued job assignments to employees of its new distribution center at 711 Perkins Jones Road, Bazetta. A work schedule obtained by the Tribune Chronicle shows a start date of June 8. An email to Amazon’s media relations for comment was not returned as of Wednesday.
