ATHENA event honors professional women for 33rd time
Staff report
The 33rd Annual ATHENA Award Program is accepting nominations for outstanding professional women in the Mahoning Valley.
The program — lauded as one of the top five largest in the country for its number of nominees and attendees — has honored more than 1,000 women over the past 32 years.
Darlene Jones, chief executive officer of the St. Vincent de Paul Society Northeast Ohio District Council, was last year’s ATHENA recipient.
The event is presented by The Vindicator and the Youngstown / Warren Regional Chamber.
The award dinner takes place May 14 at Waypoint 4180, Canfield, and includes a cocktail reception, dinner, recognition of all nominees and the announcement of this year’s award recipient.
To take part, identify, nominate and showcase a colleague who demonstrates the ATHENA qualities, which include professional accomplishment, community leadership and mentorship of other women.
The success of the ATHENA program is a result of the participation and support of the business community. Event partnerships are being offered.
