Toyota of Warren joins North America auto group

An automotive company with dealerships in the United States and Canada has purchased Toyota of Warren, it was announced Wednesday.

The Tim Lamb Group, an auto dealership sales and acquisitions firm in Columbus, said it brokered the sale of Toyota of Warren to Rafih Auto Group. The transaction closed April 28. The Trumbull County auditor’s website shows the Niles property, 2657 Niles Cortland Road SE, sold for $4.6 million.

The Rafih Auto Group will continue to operate under Toyota of Warren and retain its staff, according to a news release.

The Toyota dealership is Rafih’s first in the United States. Headed by chairman and CEO Terry Rafih, the group represents 30 brands. Among them are BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Jeep, Bentley, Rolls Royce, Jaguar, Land Rover, Lexus, Lincoln and Porsche. Overall, Rafih operates 27 locations covering Ohio, Michigan and Canada.

In November 2017, Toyota of Warren opened at its current location. The dealership features a 25,000-plus square-foot facility with the property spreading across 5 acres and includes a showroom, a parts and service center and 18 service stalls.

“It’s the same great people, same great service,” general manager Tino Merlo said when the sale was first reported.

The Jim Whetstone Auto Group, consisting of Jim Whetstone, Joseph Marzullo and Tim Marburger, were the previous owners. It owns more than 20 new car franchises in Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York.

“This deal with Jim Whetstone Auto Group marks the 120th dealership we’ve sold in the state of Ohio,” said Tim Lamb, president of the Tim Lamb Group. “It’s especially meaningful that the seller is a client we have been doing business with since we started the company in 2006.

We are also excited to have Terry Rafih and his group as a valued client moving forward.”

Starting at $3.23/week.
