Price change announced for Youngstown brewery

YOUNGSTOWN — Penguin City Brewing Co. will adjust its pricing beginning Thursday to be in line with its American premium beer competitors, the company announced Monday.

Penguin City Beer and Penguin City Light, which are affected by the change, will be priced at the new rates at bars, restaurants, grocery stores and party shops.

“This has been our goal since Day One,” said Aspasia Lyras, co-owner of Penguin City Brewing Co. “Making it happen took time, dedication, and the incredible support of Youngstown and our loyal fans.”

Seasonal brews will remain at current prices because of higher ingredient costs.

“This change reflects our deep commitment to making Penguin City Beer accessible to everyone in our city,” Lyras said.

To mark the launch of its new pricing structure, the downtown Youngstown brewery will feature the “Take the Challenge” promotion this summer. Customers are invited to taste Penguin City Beer and Penguin City Light against major domestic brands — and share their verdict for a chance to win prizes. Event details and locations are available at penguincity.beer.

“This is more than just a pricing update — it’s a celebration of our roots,” Lyras said. “We’re proud to brew beer that’s made for Youngstown, by Youngstown. Our mission has always been to build a beer company that Youngstown can be proud of — creating good job opportunities and a brand that strengthens our community.

“Every drop of Penguin City Beer served is an investment back into Youngstown, not into our pockets, and we will continue striving for even greater things.”

Starting at $3.23/week.
