Gorant Chocolatier to open shop Friday in Boardman

BOARDMAN — Gorant Chocolatier will open a new, more visible location Friday at 400 Boardman-Poland Road, a plaza across from the Shops at Boardman Park.

The store, according to the brand’s new owners in a press release “will feature a fresh new look, while paying homage to the 75-year Gorant Chocolate history in the Mahoning Valley.”

Youngstown Chocolate LLC, owned by Bergen Giordani and Nino Rubino, acquired Gorant Chocolatier LLC in September, and at the same time announced the move of the corporate store at 8301 Market St., just north of McClurg Road.

Although the retail space is completed, work to create a chocolate bar with chocolate beverages and delicacies is slated for the first quarter of 2024, the release states.

“The plan has always been to take it to the next level, this storefront and chocolate cafe does that and demonstrates our commitment to keeping Gorant’s here in the Valley for another 75 years,” Giordani said.

Once finished, the investment into the new space, which includes updated chocolate-making equipment, will be more than $300,000, the release states.

The company employs 25 people and plans to hire 10 to 15 more.

The company also has two licensee locations, one in Howland and one in Austintown.
