WEATHERSFIELD — Pittsburgh-based Howmet Aerospace, which has a production facility in Weathersfield, had revenue of $1.65 billion in the second quarter, an 18 percent year-over-year increase driven mostly by 23 growth in the commercial aerospace market.

The company in its second quarter financial report also announced for the three-month period that ended June 30 net income of $193 million compared to $147 million in the second quarter of 2022.

“The outlook for Howmet Aerospace continues to be strong and supported by the extraordinary backlog of commercial aircraft orders at Airbus and Boeing,” John Plant, executive chairman and CEO, said. “Our key defense aerospace and industrial end markets continue to be solid, while the commercial transportation end market remains healthy, albeit the third quarter tends to be seasonally weaker.”

On May 25, the company paid a quarterly dividend of 4 cents per share on common stock, and expects to increase the dividend to 5 cents for the fourth quarter assuming board approval.

In the second quarter, the company generated $229 million from operations, used $189 million for financing activities and invested $41 million.

The company focuses on engine products, fastening systems, engineered structures and forged wheels. It operates a titanium mill in Weathersfield, the Niles Ingot & Mill Products Operations, 1000 Warren Ave.

In July, the company announced a new four-year collective bargaining agreement with United Steel Workers Local 2155 and its amalgamated Local 2155-7 that gives them a pay increase of 17 percent, increased shift differential for workers on afternoon and midnight turns and for some, a quicker path to more vacation time. The union agreed to pay more for health care and won back language that protects jobs at the plant.
