Casino gambling in Ohio slips slightly

WARREN — Revenue at Ohio’s four casinos slipped a bit in May after two record-setting months in March and April, but it remained high as people became more comfortable going out to spend pent-up entertainment dollars.

In May, revenue eclipsed $86.8 million, about 6.1 percent less than what the casinos took in for April, when they set an all-time record of $92.5 million, according to the latest data from the Ohio Casino Control Commission.

The record set in March was $91.6 million.

There is no data from May 2020. The casinos were closed because of the viral outbreak and did not reopen until June 18. But data from May 2019 shows May 2021ás revenue increased 18.1 percent from two years ago.

In May 2021, table revenue was $24.6 million, about 8.4 percent less than the $26.8 million in April. Slot revenue was also down, from $65.6

million to $62.2 million, a difference of about 5.2 percent.

The four casinos in Ohio are JACK Cleveland Casino, Hard Rock Cincinnati Casino, Hollywood Toledo Casino and Hollywood Columbus Casino.

Hollywood Columbus Casino posted the highest revenue in May, about $23 million.
