Ex-Skate Zone property sale finalized for $875K

AUSTINTOWN — The former Skate Zone Family Fun Center has been bought for $875,000 by Tennessee-based commercial real estate investment firm Hutton to locate a new car wash.

The transaction between Hutton affiliate Hutton Youngstown Mahoning OH ST LLC, and husband and wife Larry and Cynthia J. Maynard for the more than 30,000-square-foot building at 5420 Mahoning Ave. finalized Friday, according to the Mahoning County Auditor’s Office.

The roller rink, which also had an arcade and laser tag, among other activities, closed in March. It’s expected the building will remain intact, but repurposed to accommodate the express car wash chain, ModWash, an affiliate of Hutton.

Larry Maynard has owned the property since 2002, according to the auditor’s office, which also shows the land and building are valued at $679,210 for tax purposes.

Already, ModWash has located property in Liberty at the former West Fork Steakhouse, 2850 Belmont Ave., and in Boardman at 750 Boardman Poland Road, a former office building, to grow into the Mahoning Valley.

Also, the company plans to open sites in Warren and Salem, according to its website.
