PREMIER DONATES TO YNDC: Premier Bank recently donated $25,000 to Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corporation.

The funds will be used for the Community Financial Empowerment Initiative, a program that includes YNDC’s housing counseling and serves as the foundation for YNDC’s comprehensive community development model aimed at increasing economic opportunity and quality of life for traditionally underserved city residents.

MERIDIAN GETS GRANTS: Meridian HealthCare recently received $148,386 from the Use of Community Partners funding to provide prevention education, a sensory room and parenting classes to the children and families Meridian serves in the community. Meridian also received $195,156 from the Use of Innovations fund to improve telehealth services and patient care coordination.

The agency was among the 36 community organizations awarded $4.9 million under the Use of Community Partners program and $8.3 million to 21 recipients of the Use of Innovation program.

The Use of Community Partners funding initiative seeks to strengthen Ohio’s integrated behavioral health system by closing gaps in the local continuum of care. The Use of Innovation funds will support technology and innovation advancements in Ohio’s behavioral health care delivery system.

FITNESS CENTER OPEN, BOUTIQUE COMING TO MALL: Planet Fitness has opened its new location at Southern Park Mall next to JCPenney, and women’s fashion and home decor boutique Rose & Remington, will open this summer in a 3,864-square-foot space across from Gracylane.

The new Planet Fitness is 27,857 square feet and has more 120 pieces of cardio machines and strength equipment and several other amenities. It will be open and staffed 24 hours per day, seven days per week.

Rose & Remington was founded in 2013 by a mother-and-daughter duo from Ohio with a goal to create a space where mothers and daughters can shop together.

In addition to the Boardman location, Rose & Remington will increase their footprint within other Washington Prime Group centers this year, including Great Lakes Mall in Mentor, Dayton Mall in Dayton, Grand Central Mall in Vienna, W.Va., and The Mall at Johnson City in Johnson City, Tenn.

It already has stores at several other Washington Prime malls.

NEW LAW OFFICE: Ibold & O’Brien, a full-service law firm part of northeast Ohio for more than 40 years, is opening of an office in downtown Hubbard.

The office is at 30 N. Main St. in the Hubbard Centre One office building. Practice areas include personal injury, medical and dental malpractice, workers’ compensation, Social Security disability, family law, wills, probate, estate planning, business law and litigation, bankruptcy and foreclosures.

Hubbard native and Ursuline graduate Scott Kuboff has begun seeing clients by appointment.

AUTISM SOCIETY NAMES DIRECTOR: The Autism Society of Mahoning Valley has named Robin Suzelis as its director of the local affiliate of the national autism umbrella organization. An active volunteer and board member since 2016, Suzelis will be the organization’s first staff member in more than a decade.

While continuing to organize autism-specific programs and creating family events, Suzelis in this new role also will head the organization’s information and referral center to assist families, as well as local professionals, navigate the difficult world of autism.

Suzelis completed her bachelor’s degree in communications at Clarion University of Pennsylvania. She has served as a communications and marketing professional for 25 years working in technology, real estate and health care.

The Mahoning Valley chapter of the Autism Society of America was founded by local families in 1989 to support families in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties.

ONE HEALTH OHIO BRINGS ON NURSE PRACTITIONERS: ONE Health Ohio recently welcomed Kristy Weiss and Andrea Balluch-Dean as the health care provider’s newest nurse practitioners.

Weiss completed her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Youngstown State University and then went back to YSU to obtain her master’s degree in nursing.

She is seeing patients at Falls Family Care, 175 E. Broad St., Newton Falls, and the Lloyd McCoy Community Health Center, 1977 Niles Road SE, Warren.

Balluch-Dean completed her bachelor’s degree in nursing from YSU and the earned her master’s degree in nursing at Kent State University. She later returned to KSU to obtain a post master’s degree as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner.

She is seeing patients at the Youngstown Community Health Center, 726 Wick Ave., Youngstown; Warren West Community Health Center, 716 Tod Ave. SW, Warren; Lloyd McCoy Health Center; and RISE Recovery Youngstown, 3132 Belmont Ave., Youngstown.

TWO JOIN BURGAN STAFF: Jordon Peterson and Colleen Richardson are recent additions to Canfield-based Burgan Real Estate.

Peterson, a native of New Middletown who earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a major in accounting, recently acquired his real estate license.

Richardson is a former teacher and native of Youngstown. She is a graduate of Ursuline High School and Youngstown State University, where she earned an undergraduate degree in elementary school education. She went on to receive two master’s degrees in literacy and educational leadership from Walden University in Minnesota and University of Scranton in Pennsylvania.

Before earning her real estate license and returning to Youngstown, she most recently was an advanced learners’ coordinator at a charter school in King of Prussia, Pa.

SALEM REGIONAL BRINGS ON DOCTORS: Salem Regional Medical Center brought on six new gastroenterologists to its medical staff in March.

Drs. Adel I. Youssef, Kevin L. Castillo, Thomas R. Geisler, Victor B. Lossev, Zev R. Maycon and Milan Dodig have joined longtime physician Dr. William Z. Kolozsi at Salem Regional’s Gastroenterology Center to expand advanced care for digestive health.

The center offers a full range of services to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the digestive system, including the liver, bile duct, gall bladder, pancreas, stomach and intestines. Services performed include colonoscopies, endoscopies, colon polyp removal and colon cancer screening.

Chandhok brings with him more than 20 years of transformative technology excellence in the regional banking sector. He joins Premier from M&T Bank, where he most recently served as CIO – regulatory, risk, financial crimes and corporate technology, in which he focused on strategic consolidation, architecture and capability evolution across multiple functions.
