Chamber, higher ed will announce partnership

WARREN — The Youngstown Warren Regional Chamber, Eastern Gateway Community College and Youngstown State and Kent State universities will partner to promote and bolster internship opportunities at the chamber.

An announcement Thursday at the chamber’s office on East Federal Street also will include the unveiling of three permanent offices for interns — one dedicated to each high education institution.

“While we have welcomed and worked with interns for decades, we wanted to make a long-term commitment to growing our internship program in an effort to expose students to our near-2,400 members and encourage them to stay and work in the Valley upon graduation,” said Sarah Boyarko, chamber chief operating officer.

EGCC President Michael Geoghegan, Kent State at Trumbull’s Interim Dean and Chief Administrative Officer Dr. Daniel Palmer and YSU President Jim Tressel will join Boyarko and Chamber President and CEO Tom Humphries at the announcement.
