Players sought for hackathon
WARREN — BRITE Energy Innovators is looking for participants for its BRITEhack 2021, the annual civic energy hackathon focused on addressing energy issues faced by community organizations.
Needed to join are teams or individual engineers, designers, developers, project managers and interested students.
It will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 29 in Warren. Participants will spend the day working in teams to create an innovative solution for the challenge in this hybrid / virtual event. In addition to social distancing and other safety procedures, organizers have accommodations in place to make the event completely virtual if necessary. All participants will also have the option to participate remotely.
Participants on the winning team will win up to $1,000.
For this year, BRITE selected its neighbor, Trumbull Family Fitness, as the challenge beneficiary. As a community institution more than 100 years old, the fitness center is grappling with debilitating energy costs due to outdated electrical systems. The BRITEHack challenge is to propose economical ways to enhance its systems and improve sustainability.
