Humtown Products wins national award

COLUMBIANA — Humtown Products, a company on the cutting edge of 3-D manufacturing for the foundry industry, has been picked by the National Association of Manufacturers as the 2020 Manufacturer of the Year in the small to medium enterprise category.

The association’s panel cited Humtown’s utilization and commercialization of 3-D printing for the selection. It is among the world leaders in 3-D sand additive manufacturing.

The family-owned company for more than 50 years supplies sand cores and molds to foundries across the globe. The foundries produce parts for industries like agriculture, construction, mining, national defense, public utilities and transportation.

“At Humtown, we are the industry’s first conventional sand core and mold manufacturer to commercialize 3-D printing,” said Brandon Lamoncha, Humtown’s director of additive manufacturing. “Adopting this new toolingless technology has revolutionized our capabilities and expanded the markets and customers we can serve. It has been a long, arduous road to get where we are today, which makes this honor all the more welcome.”

Earlier this year, Humtown received the association’s Engineering and Production Technology and Talent Management awards, joining the likes of General Motors, IBM, Merck and Siemens Energy in the categories.

Humtown has manufacturing facilities in Columbiana and Leetonia.
