LIBERTY — The location of short-lived coffee and doughnut shop has been bought for $750,000 by an Edison, N.J.-based firm with ties, it appears, to a chicken restaurant.

The former Tim Hortons at 3523 Belmont Ave. was purchased by Youngstown Dev II LLC, which, according to the Ohio Secretary of State’s office, formed in July.

The tax mailing address for Youngstown Dev II LLC, 100 Menlo Park, Suite 500, in Edison, matches, according to Yellow Pages, that of Willingboro Chicken, LLC, which, according to the New Jersey Secretary of State’s office, formed in May 2007.

A message was left with Willingboro Chicken on Tuesday. The zoning office in Liberty has received no plan submissions for the land.

The transaction with 3523 Belmont LLC, which bought the property for $540,000 in May 2018 from V-MCD Group Belmont LLC, finalized Aug. 25, according to the auditor’s office.

The little more than 1 acre of land near the intersection of Goldie Road is valued at $540,000. The auditor’s office website did not list a value for the building.

Tim Horton’s franchisee TH Cleveland opened the Liberty location in March 2019 and abruptly closed it in November that same year with little explanation except for an online post announcing the closure and inviting customers to its Girard location.

A couple weeks later, the Tim Horton’s in Girard, 500 S. State St., also closed. It had been open about six months. TH Cleveland also did not give a reason for the Girard store closing.

The Girard location has not been sold.
