Sheely’s to open second furniture store in Aurora

Staff report

NORTH LIMA — Sheely’s Furniture and Appliance is opening a second store, this one in Aurora, as it expands into the Cleveland market.

A grand opening is scheduled for Sept. 7 to 19 at the new location, 18813 N. Marketplace Drive at the Shops at Marketplace.

The location has 80,000 square feet of showroom and warehouse space, with spaces dedicated to Sheely’s mix of furniture, appliances, mattresses, decor and Warehouse Outlet. The new store will feature existing and new lines of merchandise.

“As a third generation Sheely’s family member, I’m honored to usher in this new era for Sheely’s along with my principal partners, our 150 employees and stakeholders. It is such an exciting time to be a part of this business,” said Jessica Smith, buyer and one of three principal owners, whose grandfather, Dale Sheely Sr., started the business.

The store will offer free local delivery and in-house furniture and appliance service. It’s expected the store will employ 25 to start, but growth is anticipated.

“We pride ourselves on creating jobs within our community, so the employees visiting homes for delivery or service calls will be people who live in those same communities and not from an outsourced provider,” said Jeff Curry, Sheely’s general manager and principal owner. Lance Romeo is the company’s third principal owner.

Sheely founded the store in 1952, but it started as a hot water tank wiring business and grew over the years. The existing store in North Lima opened in 1980. It now has a more than 80,000 square feet of showroom space and a 150,000-square-foot warehouse.
