EGCC awarded $800K grant to build training center
YOUNGSTOWN — Eastern Gateway Community College, which has a campus in downtown Youngstown, has been awarded $836,332 to build a training center where the college is based in Steubenville.
The Tri-State Gateway Growth Training Center would would offer training for commercial driver’s licenses, National Incident Management System credentials, and technical training for jobs in the Ohio oil and gas industry.
The funding from the Applachian Regional Commission is part of program that targets federal resources to help communities and regions affected by job losses in coal mining, coal power plant operations and coal-related supply chain industries.
