WARREN -- The Trumbull County Planning Commission will continue its countywide public engagement efforts with the next Future Growth/Land Use Planning meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Niles Senior Citizen Center, 14 E. State St., Niles.
Zachary Steiner with the planning commission said the meeting will focus on the cities of Girard and Niles, McDonald village and Weathersfield Township. Residents, local officials, business owners and community stakeholders are encouraged to attend and share their perspectives on existing land use and future growth opportunities within their communities. Steiner said building on previous public meetings in Kinsman and Liberty townships, the commission continues its outreach across Trumbull County to ensure that each community has an opportunity to participate in shaping the county’s future.
He said during the meeting, attendees will receive an overview of the planning process and participate in an interactive land use activity designed to identify local priorities, including housing, economic development, farmland preservation, natural resources, transportation and safety.
The information collected will help guide the development of future land use maps and recommendations tailored to each community’s needs and priorities.
Steiner said the planning process is intended to provide guidance for future growth and development and does not establish or change local zoning regulations.
The countywide planning initiative is being coordinated by the Trumbull County Planning Commission and GIS Man Development on behalf of the Board of Trumbull County Commissioners, with funding provided through the Ohio Department of Agriculture’s Land Use Planning Grant Program.
