CANFIELD – Canfield Rotarians presented a $10,000 check to the Canfield Board of Education at its meeting this week to help with the purchase of Chromebooks.

Board member Nader Atway said Canfield Rotary does a lot in the community and has always supported Canfield Schools when there was a need.

"We know $10,000 won't replace all the Chromebooks," said Canfield Rotary President Jeanne Mosure, "but it should help replace a good number."

The donation was welcomed by board members and Rotary was thanked for again helping to fill a need.

Following the check presentation, Canfield School Levy Committee member Jason Henry made a final appeal to voters to be educated on the issue and make an informed decision at the ballot box.

"The schools are the foundation of the community," he said. "We are in the home stretch and have three choices. We can pass the levy, we can make budget cuts or we can end up in the state's doghouse."

He asked for support for the 5.9-mill, five-year operating levy that will bring in $5,715,791 annually.
