PROJECT PLAYHOUSE: Habitat for Humanity of Mahoning Valley brings Project Playhouse to Penguin City Brewery on Thursday as businesses and organizations will build and design individualized playhouses for families in need - providing children with a safe place to play and imagine their own home. Building teams include: Southwoods Health, Hollywood Gaming Mahoning Valley Race Course, Dearing Compressor, YSU Sokolov Honors College, Window World, America Makes, Farmers National Bank and Mercy Health Foundation/Thrivent Financial. These groups will each be building, painting and decorating playhouses for local families. The playhouses are then unveiled to the children late Thursday afternoon.
Habitat partnered with the United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley to identify the eight recipients for the playhouses at Penguin City. Those families identified specific colors and themes for their children. The builders can add their own creativity to the playhouses and design them with the children in mind. Funds raised from Project Playhouse support the Habitat mission of building homes, communities and hope in our Valley.
FOUNDATION HELPS: The Ms Molly Foundation wants to share the love with domestic violence shelters Someplace Safe in Warren and Sojourner House in Youngstown. When women and children are forced to leave quickly, their personal belongings get left behind. Consider sharing any items such as diapers, baby wipes, baby wash or lotion, and children’s school supplies. Travel size toiletries, personal care items and monetary donations also are being accepted.
