What: Board of Education meeting Monday
Present: Adam Earnheardt, Janine Hamilton, Hans Kirr, David Malone and John Simon
The board:
* Approved a one-year agreement between AARIS Therapy Group of Niles and the district for psychological testing for students, for $90 an hour, with a max budget not to exceed $10,000 unless agreed upon by both parties.
* Approved an agreement between the district and Students Motivated by the Arts (SMARTS) to provide K-12 arts classes and teachers in visual art, music, dance, theater, and/or creative writing. The $35,000 cost of this programming is being provided through a donation to SMARTS from an anonymous SMARTS donor, and the district will contribute up to an additional $30,000 from its general fund.
* Approved Robert Housel, Brian Knight. Jessica Kohler, Ryan Stowell, Jason Yemma and Thomas Zetts as OPES 2.0 Credentialed Teacher Evaluators for the 2026-27 school year:
* Approved Knight as an OPES 2.0 Credentialed Principal Evaluator for the 2026-27 school year.
* Approved a one-year contract for Christine Mikovich as a registered nurse, effective through June 30, 2027.
* Accepted the resignation of Hannah DeRenzis as a lunchroom and recess aide.
* Accepted the resignation of Felicia Costa as a cook.
* Accepted the resignation of Joseph Gentile as a bus driver.
* Approved Youngstown State University student teachers Madison Stepanik and Zoe Cannon, holders of Ohio Board of Education pre-service permits, to serve as substitute teachers in their assigned classrooms during their cooperating teacher’s absence at a rate of $115 per full day.
* Approved Jude Mikulich and Daphne Davenport-Delegawl as classified substitutes for the 2026-27 school year.
* Accepted the resignation of Noelle Coggins from the position of assistant adviser for the Robotics Club.
* Accepted a donation of $2,150 from the Liberty Athletic & Academic Boosters for the Liberty Local Schools Robotics Club.
