Three women shot in South Side crowd today

YOUNGSTOWN — Three women were injured by gunfire at 5:21 a.m. todaySUN at Market Street and Florida Avenue on the South Side. The women were in a “large crowd of people,” a Youngstown police press release states.

The woman are ages 29, 27 and 32.

Police were called to the intersection for gunfire and people injured and found three women who had been shot. Youngstown police requested assistance from outside law enforcement agencies for crowd control and officer safety, the release states.

Ambulance personnel transported the victims to the hospital, where they are being treated for their injuries and are all three in stable condition, the release states.

Youngstown police and crime scene investigators were called to the scene to investigate, and they are analyzing evidence, interviewing witnesses and following up on leads, the release states. No arrests have been made.

The press release does not indicate that the crowd was there at a specific nightspot or for any specific reason.

The police department is asking for anyone with information to contact the Youngstown Police Department at 330-742-8973 or Crime Stoppers at 330-746-2583 with any tips or information, which can be left anonymously, the release states.
