YOUNGSTOWN — A man in his 20s died in St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital early today after being shot around 12:49 a.m. on La Belle Avenue on the South Side.

A 911 caller reported a fight. Responding officers found a man who had been shot in a vacant lot near 54 LaBelle. He was taken to the hospital.

The identity of the victim will be released later, according to police detectives.

About three hours later, at 4 a.m. today, a man was taken to the hospital after being rescued from from the roof of a house fire in the 700 block of Delaware Avenue on the North Side.

Another adult and an infant escaped without injuries.
