Bertha weakens after bringing flooding to Texas and Louisiana

By RUSS BYNAM The Associated Press Tropical Storm Bertha brought heavy surf and some flooding to southern Louisiana and Texas as it came ashore on the Gulf Coast for a second time Thursday, hours before weakening to a tropical depression. Grants, ARP funds to help with $3.4M Weathersfield sewer project

NILES — Trumbull County Commissioners said they have secured as many grants and other funding for a $3.4 million sanitary sewer improvement project in the Crain Drive neighborhood in Weathersfield as they could, but residents will still have to pay their share to tap into the system. YOUNGSTOWN — A summer camp offered to local children by Easterseals of Northeast Ohio is not only benefiting them but the grandparents, aunts and uncles taking care of them. Called “Kinship Summer Camp,” the program held for seven weeks four days per week in June and July, has children spending four hours at the camp while their caregivers are given time to spend on their own. WARREN — The Trumbull County Commissioners on Wednesday approved moving $325,000 from Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership’s demolition funds to its Emergency Home Repair program. TNP received $1 million from Trumbull County’s allocation of American Rescue Plan funds for its emergency home repair program and another $2 million in ARP funds for demolition and brownfield remediation in conjunction with the Trumbull County Land Bank.
