EEOC files discrimination lawsuit against Bon Secours Mercy Health

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court alleging that Mercy Health Physicians Youngstown and Bon Secours Mercy Health in Youngstown violated federal law by allegedly subjecting a Jewish orthopedic surgeon to unfavorable terms and conditions of employment and firing him because of his religion and race shortly after the Oct. 7, 2023, terrorist attacks in Israel. Ohio’s electric infrastructure to get $273M upgrade

Ohio’s existing high-voltage electric infrastructure will be updated through $273 million in funding. The U.S. Department of Energy is providing $136 million through its Speed to Power through Accelerated Reconductoring and other Key Advanced Transmission Upgrades (SPARK) initiative while Ohio’s utility companies are paying $137 million for the improvement work. Landlord arrested in dispute with resident

YOUNGSTOWN — A local landlord was arrested after police said he threatened a woman over a residency dispute. Online court records show that Michael K. Clark, 46, was arraigned Monday before Youngstown Municipal Court Judge Carla Baldwin, charged with one count of menacing, a fourth-degree misdemeanor. He pleaded not guilty and is scheduled for trial Oct. 26. A Youngstown police report states the officers caught Clark on police body camera Sunday, threatening a woman who lives in a house he owns. Firefighters complete training with burning of home in Weathersfield

WEATHERSFIELD - Since last spring, firefighters from Mahoning and Trumbull counties have been taking part in fire training at a home in Weathersfield that was burned to the ground over the weekend. McDonald fire Chief Fred Marcum said Sunday what made the training unique was it was a wood-framed geodesic house. "This was the last training we had at this house. We have been here since last spring meeting on Monday evenings training and today we will have a live fire to burn it down," Marcum said. HUBBARD — Two men arrested on charges of the same crime in separate incidents involving persons they believed to be minors made court appearances Monday.
