A pair of Youngstown State University lectures are scheduled in September at Stambaugh Auditorium.
AI expert Jeremy Utley will speak at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 17 as part of the YSU Thomas Colloquium on Free Enterprise, and historian Doris Kearns Goodwin will speak at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 25 as part of the Skeggs Lecture Series.
As an adjunct professor at Stanford's school of Engineering, Utley has become a Thinkers50 Top Ten Innovation Leader for his dynamic approach to teaching, research and advisory work in the field of AI.
He is the author of the best-selling book "Ideaflow: The Only Business Metric That Matters" and hosts the podcast "Beyond the Prompt: How to Use AI in Your Company."
Goodwin won a Pulitzer Prize in history for her book, "No Ordinary Time: Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt: The Home Front in World War II." Her most recent book, 2024's "An Unfinished Love Story: A Personal History of the 1960s," became a New York Times bestseller.
With her specialized knowledge on presidents Lyndon B. Johnson, Franklin D. Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln, as well as the Kennedy family, Goodwin has been a go-to consultant for decades. She has been interviewed for Ken Burns' "Baseball" and "The Roosevelts: An Intimate History" and worked on the documentary miniseries "Washington" for the History Channel.
Both lectures are free, but tickets are required and are available at the Stambaugh box office, 1000 Fifth Ave., and online at stambaughauditorium.com.
For Utley's lecture, attendees will receive a free copy of his upcoming book. When the book is released on Nov. 10, copies will be mailed to all in attendance. Details on how to receive the free copy will be shared during the event.
