TAG displays Infante's fiber art
Kathryn Infante is featured in the Artist of the Month Gallery for September at Trumbull Art Gallery, 158 N. Park Ave., Warren.
Infante is a fiber artist whose exhibit features banner quilts inspired by her annual week-long stay at a resident summer camp, where she teaches art to campers in the Art Pavilion. At the end of each day, she would unwind by making one quilt block to represent that day.
Other work included in her display is inspired by her tri-weekly trail hikes through Mill Creek Metro Parks in Youngstown. While walking, she photographs the natural habitat around her. Then once home, she turns those inspirations into fiber art.
'Twilight in Concert' coming
The movie "Twilight" accompanied by a band performing the score live will play Packard Music Hall on Feb. 27.
The 2008 film, based on the book series by Stephenie Meyer, grossed $400 million worldwide. For the tour, the film will play on a full-size cinema screen and more than a thousand candles will illuminate the stage while a band performs Carter Burwell's score.
Tickets range from $29.50 to $75 (plus fees) and go on sale at 10 a.m. today through Ticketmaster.
Rust Belt delays 'Godiva' opening
Rust Belt Theater Company's "Godiva: A Burlesque Musical" now will open Sept. 18 at The Playhouse Downtown, 220 W. Boardman St., Youngstown.
Originally scheduled to open Friday, the show written by Robert Dennick Joki and Josh Taylor now will run for only one weekend with show times at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 18 and 19 and 2:30 p.m. Sept. 20.

'Magic City' author speaks
Author Taylor Galaska will speak at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library-Brookfield Branch, 7032 Grove St.
Galaska is president of Sharon (Pa.) Historical Society and her book, "The Magic City: The Mills, Men, and Homes of a Company Town Forged in Steel," chronicles the rise and fall of the steel "boomtown" of South Sharon (now Farrell, Pa).
Admission is free, and copies of the book will be available for purchase.
Library presents MoSFA program
A program on "Imagining the Future: The Museum of Science Fiction and Fantasy Arts" starts at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library-Cortland Branch, 578 Lakeview Drive.
The Trumbull County Historical Society will discuss its plans to create the Museum of Science Fiction and Fantasy Arts (MoSFA) in Warren, creating a space where creativity, storytelling and speculative worlds converge.
Admission is free.
'Gulliver's Travels' explored
Youngstown State University Professor Emeritus Thomas A. Copeland will be the next speaker for the William Holmes McGuffey Historical Society's Memories of a Lifetime series.
Copeland will discuss how "Gulliver's Travels" is the ultimate satire. Author Jonathan Swift
crafted this supposed children's story as a sharp critique of human nature, politics, and society.
Copeland received his bachelor's degree from Oberlin College and his master's degree and doctorate from Northwestern University.
The program starts at 10 a.m. Sept 19 at Denny's meeting room, 4020 Belmont Ave., Liberty Admission is $10 for McGuffey members and $15 for non-members. Reservations are suggested and can be made by calling 330-726-8277.
YSU announces 2027 SFA dates
Youngstown State University announced the dates for the 29th annual Summer Festival of the Arts will be July 10 and 11, 2027, on the YSU campus.
Artist applications will be accepted starting in January.
The festival will showcase the talents of artists and performers from the region with a juried artists' market, live musical performances and family activities.
