Cyclists plan 53rd Century ride on Sept. 20
Registration is underway for the 53rd Northeast Ohio Century bicycle tour on Sept. 20, sponsored by the Out-Spokin' Wheelmen bicycling club.
Riders will gather between 7 and 10 a.m. at the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge, 6400 state Route 46, Mecca. The 25-mile route will visit the Hartford Apple Festival and the Hartford Hill Winery and Brewery. There also will be 10-, 50- and 51-mile routes, and century riders can reach their 100-mile goal with the two longest routes.
Support vehicles will be available to assist cyclists until 5 p.m. The cost is $30 for those who pre-register by Sept. 17 at outspokenwheelmen.com and $35 after that date. For more information, call 330-540-1022.
MVHS serves up History on Tap at Noble Creature
The Mahoning Valley Historical Society will test people's knowledge of the region with History on Tap at 6 p.m. Aug. 27 at Noble Creature Wild Ales and Lagers, 126 E. Rayen Ave., Youngstown.
Teams will compete in two sessions featuring 20 questions each, covering a variety of fascinating -- and sometimes surprising -- aspects of local and regional history.

TCHS offers Underground Railroad bus tours
The Trumbull County Historical Society will present two Underground Railroad bus tours in September to celebrate International Underground Railroad History Month.
Tours will depart from the Trumbull County Tourism Bureau, 321 Mahoning Ave. NW, Warren, at 10 a.m. Sept. 5 and 12 and travel to many of the known stops on the Underground Railroad in Trumbull County, including a behind-the-scenes tour of one of the properties.
The tour lasts about two hours.

LOOP Youngstown receives donation from McElroy
McElroy Comprehensive Accounting donated $5,000 to sponsor a studio at LOOP Youngstown Arts + Culture Center, 805 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown.
All 31 studios are occupied by local artists and creative entrepreneurs, including two emerging artist fellows. One of those studios will be named in recognition of the accounting firm's gift.
LOOP's recently launched capital campaign already has reached 22% of its goal. Community members and supporters are invited to help complete the transformation of the site by contributing to the campaign at loopyoungstown.org/donate.
Juried fine craft exhibit opens at Kent State
"Best of 2026," a juried exhibition showcasing contemporary fine craft by 69 artists, opens Tuesday at Kent State University's Center for the Visual Arts, 325 Terrace Drive, Kent.
The exhibition was organized by the Ohio Design Craftsmen, a statewide organization that supports/promotes the professional development of fine craft artists. Juror Carol Sauvion, creator of the Peabody-award-winning PBS series "Craft in America., and 73 works in clay, glass, metal, wood, fiber and mixed media from nearly 400 entries.
A reception is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 28, and the work will be on display through Oct. 7. Admission is free.
Covelli Centre hosting Disney on Ice in December
Disney on Ice returns to the Covelli Centre for seven performances in December.
"Magic of Family" focuses on characters from the animated films "Frozen" and "Encanto" but also features Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy and other Disney characters. Show times are 7 p.m. Dec. 3 and 4, 10:30 a.m and 2:30 and 6:30 p.m. Dec. 5 and 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Dec. 6.
Tickets range from $27 to $122 and go on sale at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Southwoods Health box office and through Ticketmaster. An online-only presale starts at 10 a.m. today with the password: LV26PX.
