Brookfield library hosts war program
A program on "The Revolutionary War in Ohio: A Frontier Battleground" is scheduled at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library Brookfield Branch, 7032 Grove St.
Katie Pfouts from Trumbull County Historical Society will help participants explore Ohio's pivotal role during the American Revolutionary War. This presentation will highlight key battles, strategic military movements and the impact of the conflict on the region.
Admission is free.
Pucker up for Pickle Fest
The Youngstown Pickle Fest returns to Penguin City Brewing Company, 460 E. Federal St., Youngstown.
This year's event will include pickle-themed food and drinks, local vendors, a best pickle pizza competition and music by Da Polka Bums.

MVHS serves up Canfield Fair history
Canfield Fair Board Directors George Roman III and Elwood Woolman will talk about the history of the state's largest county fair for the next Bites and Bits of History program.
Started by the Mahoning County Agricultural Society, the first fair was a one-day event on Oct. 5, 1847, and evolved into a Valley tradition. Roman and Woolman will share stories of the fair's history, memorable attractions, agricultural roots, favorite foods and entertainment.
The program starts at noon Aug. 20 at the Tyler History Center, 325 W. Federal St., Youngstown. Admission is free and attendees are encouraged to bring their lunches to enjoy during the program. For more information, go to mahoninghistory.org or call 330-743-2589.
