The 34th Brier Hill Italian Fest runs this weekend on Calvin and Victoria streets in Youngstown.
While the festival starts at 4 p.m. today, the official opening ceremony is scheduled at 7 p.m. Friday.
Other special events include morra at 7:30 p.m. Friday, a hot peppers contest at 6 p.m. Saturday and a wine tasting contest at 4 p.m. Sunday.
The entertainment lineup includes the Jim Frank Combo, Rex Taneri Orchestra and Mikey Dee Band today; Jim Frank Combo, Rex Taneri Orchestra and The Cugines on Friday; Mikey Dee Band, Rex Taneri Orchestra and The Zolkas on Saturday; and Lowellville Italian Concert Band, Mikey Dee Band, Jim Frank Combo, Rex Taneri Orchestra and The Cugines to close out the fest on Sunday.
A wide range of Italian delicacies will be available for purchase, including the style of pizza that bears the Brier Hill neighborhood's name.
Proceeds benefit ITAM Memorial Post 12-Calvin Street.
The festival runs from 4 p.m. to midnight today and Friday, 2 p.m. to midnight Saturday and 1 p.m. to midnight Sunday. Admission is free.
