Assorted ramblings from the world of entertainment:
• "Reemergence" will fill LOOP Youngstown Arts & Culture Center with art, music and poetry on Sunday.
LOOP studio artists will display their work in the center's community room, and the show features photography, acrylic, oil and watercolor paint, textiles, wood and other materials.
Participating artists include Sarah Sharber, Kellie Kirksey, RB Knight, Tony Nicholas, Joelene Barb, Dei Bilunka, Elizabeth Ford, Ed Hallahan, Heather Bowser, Willie Duck Jr., AJ Pascoe, Tom Ritter, Lauren Sandor, Sophia Black and Jaye Black.
Hallahan will perform experimental music on double bass, with Jim Conti (electronic instruments) and Jim Volnick (trumpet, percussion, piano). Volnick will play the baby grand piano recently donated to LOOP by the family of Jean Romeo.
The art exhibition opens at 6 p.m. Sunday at the center, 805 Mahoning Ave., and a poetry reading is planned at 7 p.m. starting with LOOP artists QuaToyia Christele and AJ Pascoe and followed by Rebecca Evans and Hannah Rodabaugh reading from their new books.
Evans is the author of three books and co-hosts Writer-to-Writer radio show.
Rodabaugh is a Youngstown native and Youngstown State University alumna who is the author of five books of poetry and has twice been an Artist-in-Residence for the National Park Service.
Admission is free.
• The Mahoning Valley Historical Society is seeking entrants for its annual Amazing History Race.
The 12th annual event is scheduled Aug. 7 starting at the Tyler History Center, 325 W. Federal St., Youngstown. Teams will check in at 5 p.m., and each team will receive a set of clues directing them to six sites throughout the Mahoning Valley.
Teams will depart at 5:30 p.m. and must find all six sites and take a photograph to prove they were there. Each team will have one "lifeline" available to help if they are stumped by any of the clues.
The first team to correctly identify all of the sites and return to the Tyler History Center will receive the Amazing History Race 12 trophy. The others won't get a trophy, but there will be a pizza party at the end of the race for all participants.
The cost per person is $10 for adults and $5 for senior citizens ages 60 and older and students ages 5 to 13. Children ages 4 and younger are free.

• Instead of a "square," this year's Trumbull County Historical Society Oktoberfest fundraiser will be on a "diamond."
For its 11th edition, Oktoberfest will move to 7 17 Credit Union Field at Eastwood in Niles from its previous location on Courthouse Square in downtown Warren.
Oktoberfest at the Diamond from 4 to 8 p.m. Sept. 26 will feature an expanded beer lineup with 10 regional breweries pouring seasonal favorites and new releases. The 2025 event offered seven breweries and cider houses and 2024 had six options.
The event also includes German‑inspired food, grape stomping and stein hoisting competitions, family activities and German music performed by the Youngstown Saxon Band.
Tickets are $30 for adults and include a meal and one drink ticket and $20 for young adults (ages 13 to 20) and include the meal but not the drink ticket.
