Boardman Park hosts Community Day
Boardman Community Day and an America250 celebration combine this Saturday at Boardman Park.
The day begins with a history of Boardman presentation at 10 a.m. and guided tours of the Historic Village, including the St. James Meeting House and Detchon House.
Afternoon activities include a community cornhole tournament starting at 2 p.m., a touch-a-truck event (with police, fire and construction vehicles) at 4 p.m. as well as children’s activities, a wellness and accessibility tent, local veteran resources and support organizations and food vendors.
Musical acts include Gabe Davis at 4 p.m. and Properties of Amber at 6 p.m. Speeches by Boardman trustees and an honor guard presentation at 7:30 p.m. will precede a performance by No Funk No Justice at 7:45 p.m. The celebration concludes with a fireworks display at 9:45 p.m.
In addition to scheduled activities, attendees can enjoy complimentary cotton candy, face painting, snow cones and other family-friendly experiences throughout the day while supplies last.
The park is located at 375 Boardman-Poland Road, and admission is free.
Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy the live entertainment throughout the day.
