ACTS announces 2026-27 season
A holiday classic and an Andrew Lloyd Webber musical slated for a Broadway revival will be part of ACTS Performing Arts Center’s 2026-27 season.
The season opens Sept. 25 with the cabaret show “ACTS Sings! Duos and Duets” in its 40 Below performance space for a one weekend run.
ACTS also will partner with the Greenville Symphony Orchestra for an America250 concert on Oct. 10 at Thiel College’s Passavant Center in Greenville, Pa.
Opening on Oct. 30 just in time for Halloween and running for two weekends will be “Edgar Allan Poe Afterlife Radio Show,” featuring vignette performances of some of Poe’s most well-known novels, such as “The Fall of the House of Usher” and “The Cask of the Amontillado.”
“White Christmas,” the Irving Berlin featuring such songs as “Blue Skies” and “Sisters” as well as the title tune, opens Dec. 4 for a two-weekend run.
The first production of 2027 will be the cabaret show “Our Villain Era,” featuring songs sung by movie and musical villains. It runs Feb. 19 to 21.
Opening March 12, 2027, for two weekends is “Play On,” a comedy about a theater trying to put on a show by a demanding playwright who keeps revising his script.
The final main stage production of the season will be Webber’s “Evita,” which won seven Tony Awards during its original Broadway run from 1979 to 1983.
It is scheduled for a Broadway revival next spring with the title role played by Rachel Zegler, who won an Olivier Award last year for her portrayal of Eva Peron in London.
Shows playing on Broadway usually are not available to community theaters, but ACTS secured the rights for its staging before the upcoming revival was announced, according to ACTS Vice President Susan Piccarilli.
Its production opens May 8, 2027, for a two-weekend run.
The season concludes with a country-themed cabaret show “ACTS Sings! Bluegrass, Boots and Backroads” from June 11 to 13, 2027.
All performances except for the America250 concert are at ACTS Performing Arts Center, 40 S. Irvine Avenue, Sharon, Pa. Single tickets are $25 adults and $20 students for main stage productions and $20 adults and $15 students for cabaret shows.
