Series brings Dorothy Fuldheim program to JCC
The Jewish Community Center of Youngstown is kicking off its summer J. Newman Levy Speaker series with a program about journalist Dorothy Fuldheim.
Fuldheim will be portrayed by living history performer Anne McEvoy from Women in History. Fuldheim was a Jewish American news journalist and television broadcaster who is credited with being the first woman in the United States to anchor a television news broadcast as well as to host her own television show.
Fuldheim (1893-1989) is an inductee into both the Ohio Associated Press Broadcasters Hall of Fame and the Ohio Women’s Hall of Fame.
The Jewish History Month program starts at 5:30 p.m. May 27 at the JCC, 505 Gypsy Lane, and dinner is included.
The event is free, but registration is required by May 21 at jccyoungstown.org/newmanlevyseries.
Other events in the series will include Marcia Levy discussing the stories behind some of America’s favorite films, comedian Robin Fox and The Klezmer Orchestra playing Klezmer’s greatest hits.
