McGuffey series presents Poe program

Mark Dawidziak returns for a William Holmes McGuffey Historical Society Memories of a Lifetime program on author Edgar Allan Poe.

Dawidziak covered film and television for the Cleveland Plain Dealer and the Akron Beacon Journal for decades and was inducted into the Cleveland Journalism Hall of Fame in 2015.

He also is the author of books on “The Twilight Zone,” “Kolchak: The Night Stalker,” “Columbo” and five books about author and humorist Mark Twain, who Dawidziak has portrayed on stage for 45 years.

Dawidziak wrote “Mystery of Mysteries: The Death and Life of Edgar Allan Poe,” and his McGuffey program will focus on the mysterious death of and misconceptions about the author and poet known for such works as “The Cask of the Amontillado,” “Fall of the House of Usher,” “Masque of the Red Death,” “The Pit and Pendulum” and “The Raven.”

The program starts at 10 a.m. May 16 in the meeting room at Denny’s, 4020 Belmont Ave., Liberty.

Admission is $10 for McGuffey members and $15 for non-members. Reservations are suggested and can be made by calling 330-726-8277.
