‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ opens

ACTS Performing Arts Center will stage the musical “Jesus Christ Superstar” for an eight-performance run starting Saturday.

The Andrew Lloyd Webber-Tim Rice rock opera reimagines the final days of Jesus Christ — told through the eyes of Judas Iscariot. Blending rock anthems with biblical themes, the production is set in the 1980s, and it explores humanity, betrayal and faith through a contemporary lens.

Nicole Walzer directs the show with music direction by Joseph Spurio and choreography by Jessica Wellington.

The cast, which includes performers from Mercer and Lawrence counties in Pennsylvania as well as Mahoning County in Ohio, features: Drew Ference, Kory Frederick, Mel Lyon, Alan John Anderson, Kristina Reeher, Megan Delaney, Jeanne Patterson, Susan Woge, John Woge, Ronald Grantz, Casey Loren, Gabriel Garcia, Analia Boyd, Noah Gatto, Allison Howe, Madison Lazor, Beth Michael, Kimberly Paglia, Samantha Reeher, Jen Stephenson, Miranda Woge, Ella Walzer, Sylvan Paglia, Dave Reeher and Lila Verdesoto.

“Jesus Christ Superstar” run through March 29 at ACTS, 40 S. Irvine Ave., Sharon, Pa. Show times are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2:30 p.m Sunday.Tickets are $25 for adults and $20 for students and are available online at www.actspac.org and by calling 724-815-4388.
