Butler hosts 86th Annual: 91 artists within 75 miles part of the exhibition

The 86th Area Artists Annual opens Sunday at the Butler Institute of American Art.

The exhibition is open to artists who live within a 75-mile radius of Youngstown, and all types of media are accepted.

According to Butler Executive Director Louis A. Zona, “The Area Artists Annual demonstrates the high level of artistic talent here in our region.”

This year’s juror was artist and attorney Nils Johnson Jr. He selected 100 works by 91 artists from the 389 artists who submitted pieces for consideration.

Artists selected for this year’s show are: Laurie Musser, Janet Dodrill, James Mirgliotta, Cath Griffith, Suzanne Anzellotti, D.P. The work will be on display through Feb. 15 in the Finnegan-Hynes, Davis and Giffuni galleries at the Butler. An opening reception is planned from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, and award winners will be announced at 2 p.m.
