Science center hosts Winter Wonder Days
Winter Wonder Days start today at the Great Lakes Science Center, 601 Erieside Ave., Cleveland.
Special attractions include Polysnow and Hockey Friction hands-on activity carts, a Gingerbread Scavenger Hunt and a Snowflake Symmetry Community Build. The Fire & Ice Big Show is presented daily.
Holiday hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the center will be open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on New Year’s Day. For more information, go to greatscience.com.

Christ Episcopal presents fest of lessons, carols
The annual Christmas Festival of Lessons and Carols is scheduled at 6 p.m. Sunday at Christ Epsicopal Church, 2627 Atlantic St. NW, Warren.
The event weaves together scripture readings, choral music and congregational carols to celebrate the Christmas season. The Parish Choir will be joined by the Handbell Choir and a professional chamber orchestra, with Richard Konzen at the church’s Casavant pipe organ. The concert will be conducted by James W. Shiell, the church’s director of music.

Stambaugh Chorus seeking area singers
Stambaugh Chorus invites area singers to join the ensemble for its spring 2026 season.
Singers of all backgrounds are welcome, and rehearsals will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays at Youngstown State University’s Bliss Hall starting Jan. 6.

Cavanaugh plays Celebrity Series holiday concert
Michael Cavanaugh comes to Westminster College for a holiday concert as part of its 2025-26 Celebrity Series.
Cavanaugh, a Cleveland native, starred in the Broadway musical “Movin’ Out,” featuring the music of Billy Joel, and he received Tony and Grammy nominations for his work on that show. His holiday show mixes modern Christmas songs such as “Last Christmas” and “Wonderful Christmastime” along with the classics — “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” “Winter Wonderland” and “Jingle Bell Rock.”
The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Orr Auditorium, Westminster Drive, New Wilmington, Pa.

Mark Mackay plays Playhouse on Saturday
Mark Mackay brings his Christmas tour to Youngstown Playhouse, 600 Playhouse Lane, at 7 p.m. Saturday.
Mackay’s blend of country rock and guitar chops have enabled him to open for a wide range of artists, including Blake Shelton, Tim McGraw, Gary Allan, Steve Miller Band and REO Speedwagon. The show will include a mix of Mackay’s songs and interpretations of Christmas standards.
Kristen Brown, a top 20 finalist on season 24 of “The Voice,” will open. Tickets are $21.40 (a VIP ticket for $52 also is available that includes a preshow reception with the performers) and are available through TicketLeap.
Warren library celebrates Jane Austen’s birthday
The Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, 444 Mahoning Ave. NW, Warren, will celebrate author Jane Austen’s 250th birthday on Tuesday.
Austen, who was born Dec. 16, 1775, is the author of such works as “Pride and Prejudice,” “Emma” and “Sense and Sensibility.”
The library will serve tea and have games, prizes and a photo op starting at 5 p.m. and screen one of the film adaptations of her work at 5:30 p.m.

Touring Christmas show plays Stambaugh
Christmas in the Air comes to Stambaugh Auditorium, 1000 Fifth Ave., Youngstown, at 7 p.m. Friday.
The family-friendly Broadway-style variety show includes holiday classics and modern-day favorites combined with synchronized Rockette-style dancers woven into a storyline told by two of Santa’s favorite elves.

Meet-the-artists Saturdays set by TAG
Meet-the-artist sessions are planned on Saturdays in December at Trumbull Art Gallery, 156 N. Park Ave., Warren, during its Trees at the Gallery.
The show features 27 displays by 29 artists selling a variety of items for holiday gift giving. Several of these participating artists will be on hand each Saturday until Dec. 20. Visitors will have an opportunity to meet and talk with them as some create additional items for their displays.

Campbell author signs novel at Barnes & Noble
Campbell author Dominic Koulianos will sign copies of his novel “A Tale of Two Islands: The Last Prince of Kalymnos” at Barnes & Noble, 381 Boardman-Poland Road, Boardman.
The historical fiction work is set on the Greek island of Kalymnos during the year 540 AD in the Byzantine Empire. Koulianos spent five years researching and writing this story, which explores the rich history, culture and heritage of Kalymnos.
The book signing runs from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday.
Youth Theatre planning ‘Honk Jr.’ auditions
Playhouse Youth Theatre will have auditions for the musical “Honk Jr.” from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Youngstown Playhouse, 600 Playhouse Lane.
The cast size is flexible with roles available for up to 24 performers, and auditions are open to children and teens ages 6 and older. Those auditions should prepare a song that showcases their vocal ability. There also will be a dance call.

YSO is seeking a principal trumpet
The Youngstown Symphony Orchestra will have auditions for a principal trumpet player on Jan. 26, 2026.
The Youngstown Symphony Orchestra is a per-service ensemble with a season consisting of approximately 25 regular services and varying educational and outreach services. Pay for the 2025-26 season is $136.74 per service and $118.90 per service for a section member.
