Hometown Holidays fills Courthouse Square on Saturday

Downtown Warren will get into the seasonal spirit on Saturday with its annual Hometown Holidays celebration and tree lighting ceremony.

Activities at Courthouse Square include carriage rides, an ice sculpting demonstration, music by DJ Boogie Entertainment and costumed Grinch, Olaf and Bluey characters.

Families with children ages 6 and younger can walk and play on the indoor Candy Land Lane at the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, 444 Mahoning Ave. NW, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Triyounity, 239 Main Ave. SW, will have a children’s market and wrapping station from 2 to 6 p.m. Children can write letters to Santa at First Presbyterian Church, 256 Mahoning Ave. NW, and there will be ornament making at the Kinsman House, 303 Mahoning Ave. NW.

There will be a holiday market along with cookie decorating with Game Changers inside the Brite Building, 125 W. Market St., and Modern Methods Brewing Company, 125 David Grohl Alley will have its holiday night market.

The downtown parade will start at 5 p.m.

For the first time, this year’s parade floats will be judged with awards given for best overall float, most festive float, best use of lights and judges’ choice.

The tree lighting ceremony starts at 5:30 p.m., followed by the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus at the log cabin.

The Warren G. Harding High School Madrigals will perform at the gazebo at 5:45 p.m., followed by Senior Showcase performers at 6:30 p.m.
