Youngstown library hosts award-winning author
Author John Schu will speak Tuesday at the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County’s main library.
“Louder Than Hunger!,” a novel in verse about a young teen with anorexia, was a New York Times bestseller. Schu’s other books include “This Is a School,” illustrated by Veronica Miller Jamison; “This Is a Story,” illustrated by Lauren Castillo; “Ruthie Rose’s Big Idea: A Poetry Story,” illustrated by Holly Hatam; and “The Gift of Story: Exploring the Affective Side of the Reading Life.”
“Lily-May’s Joyful Day,” illustrated by Holly Hatam, is slated for release next year, and “This Is a Theater,” illustrated by Jaime Kim, will be published in 2027.
Schu is a children’s librarian for Bookelicious and a part-time lecturer at Rutgers University. He lives in Naperville, Illinois.
Schu will share insights about “Louder Than Hunger!” starting at 6 p.m. at the library, 305 Wick Ave., Youngstown, and the program will be followed by a meet-and-greet and book signing.
