Youngstown Model Railroad Association announces open house
The Youngstown Model Railroad Association will have its annual open house for eight days over two months.
YMRA has both O and HO scale layouts. The HO layout is adding several new rides to its amusement park area, including a scale model of the Idora Park Rocket Ride. A new modular HO layout also has been added.
Open house dates are noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Nov. 8 and 9 and Dec. 6, 7, 13 and 14 at the club, Raccoon Road and Four Mile Run Road, Austintown. Admission is $5 with children ages 11 and younger admitted free. For more information, email yomodelrrclub@yahoo.com.
SPARK Storytellers event to explore ‘Crossroads’ events
A SPARK Storytellers event is scheduled at 2 p.m. Sunday at Trinity Playhouse, 234 E. Lincoln Way, Lisbon.
Five local storytellers — Kandace Cleland, Robin Tener, Connie Baer, Ashley Arter and Scott Weingar — will present original stories about a time in their lives when they came to a crossroad and the consequences of the path forward they chose.

Youngstown labor museum hosts ‘First Ladies in Wartime’ program
Author and television producer Andrew Och will speak on “First Ladies in Wartime” at 3 p.m. Monday at the Youngstown Historical Center of Industry and Labor, 151 W. Wood St.
Och is the author of “Unusual for Their Time: On the Road with America’s First Ladies, Volumes 1 & 2” and the producer of the C-SPAN and White House Historical Association series “First Ladies: Influence and Image.”
The program is presented by the Youngstown State University humanities department through the Reeder Endowment in History, and admission is free.
‘Guns and Moses’ movie showing at Youngstown State University
The Youngstown Area Jewish Film Festival in partnership with the Center for Judaic and Holocaust Studies at Youngstown State University will screen the film “Guns and Moses.”
The movie is the story of a Hasidic rabbi in a desert town whose congregation is attacked. A young white nationalist is arrested, but the rabbi doubts his guilt and begins investigating the case.
A virtual Q & A with film director Salvador Litvak will follow the film.
The movie will be shown at 6:30 p.m. Monday in room B112 at Cushwa Hall. Admission is free, but advance registration is required by Friday at jccyoungstown.org/filmfest. Donations will be accepted at the door.
Upton House in Warren offers program on women pilots
Alexandra Lausin, interim director of the International Women’s Air & Space Museum in Cleveland, will be the speaker for a First Wednesday event at the Harriet Taylor Upton House, 380 Mahoning Ave. NW, Warren.
Lausin will talk about the role of female pilots during World War II.
The program starts at 10 a.m. Wednesday with refreshment available starting at 9:30 a.m. Admission is free.
Sips & Scripts serves up ‘Claire the Chair’ at Kent State Trumbull
“Claire the Chair” by “Wild Bill” Johnson will be the next offering in Kent State University at Trumbull Theatre’s Sips & Scripts readers theater series.
Directed by Brian Westerley, the play gives a brief history of Broadway told from the perspective of two Broadway theater seats. It uses the conceit to show how Broadway shows and the Theater District changed from the 1920s to today. The “presentation” is interrupted by a second chair that roasts all things Broadway and provides biting social commentary.
It will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Darlene Lounge, 145 W. Market St., Warren. Admission is free.
ACTS sets auditions for production of ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’
Auditions for ACTS Performing Arts Center’s production of the musical “Jesus Christ Superstar” are scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 16 and 7 to 9 p.m. Nov. 18 at the theater, 40 S. Irvine Ave., Sharon, Pa.
Interested performers will be asked to perform 32 bars of a Broadway song with a pop, rock or gospel influence along with participating in a brief dance audition. It will be directed by Nicole Walzer with music director Joseph Spurio and choreographer Jessica Wellington.
The musical will open March 14, 2026. Pre-registration for auditions is recommended, and applications are available online at tinyurl.com/actsjcs.

Playhouse Youth Theatre stages Shakespeare
Playhouse Youth Theatre will perform the William Shakespeare comedy “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” this weekend.
Isa Foltz directs the comedy about four young lovers who get entangled in a series of mishaps and unexpected connections caused by a band of mischievous fairies and their enchanted love potions.

Fitch High School Drama Club finds a ‘Clue’
The Fitch High School Drama Club will stage “Clue” for two performances.
The play is based on the popular board game, which spawned a 1985 movie and multiple stage adaptations.

Medici Museum hosts Fall Festival on Saturday
A Fall Festival is planned from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Medici Museum of Art, 9350 E. Market St., Howland.
The inaugural event will include balloon art, pumpkin painting, trick or treating, a pop-up library provided by the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, a dog costume contest and adoption event and live music by Humbles County.

Student director stages ‘Misery’ at Kent-Trumbull
The drama-thriller “Misery” will be staged for three performances at Kent State University at Trumbull, 4314 Mahoning Ave. NW, Champion.
The play, written by William Goldman and based on the novel by Stephen King, is directed by Emma Woodyard as her capstone project, and the cast features Raquel Allison, Nate Chapline and Johnathan Bahrey.

TCHS presents Trumbull County cemetery tour
Trumbull County Historical Society will have a bus tour of the county’s cemeteries Oct. 25.
This special tour will shine a light on the rich tapestry of local history through the lives — and final resting places — of the area’s early settlers, veterans and influential families. Local historians will bring these stories to life, sharing fascinating tales of Trumbull County’s heritage.

Witches Halloween Tea deadline is Friday
Howland Historical Society will have its annual Witches Halloween Tea with seatings at noon and 3 p.m. Oct. 26 at the Niles SCOPE Center, 14 E. State St.
Those attending are encouraged to come in costume and many come in fancy witch’s hats and dresses.

Tapestries of Ohio will present its annual Christmas Madrigals Dinner & Show at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 19 at Stambaugh Auditorium’s Jeanne D. Tyler Grand Ballroom, 1000 Fifth Ave., Youngstown.
The Lord and Lady of the castle will gather with other nobility of Medieval times to sing the songs and tell the story of the first Christmas. Easy Street’s ‘Miracle’ coming to Powers
Easy Street Productions’ “Miracle on Easy Street” returns to Powers Auditorium from Dec. 19 to 21.
The annual holiday production will be co-hosted by Easy Street co-founders Todd Hancock and Maureen Collins and feature a cast of more than 100 singers, dancers and Little Rascals performing seasonal favorites.
Don Yallech will lead the Easy Street Little Big Band, and featured performers will include Colleen Chance, Katy Collins, Candace Campana, Cortney MacKay, Natalie Kovacs and Finn O’Hara. Megan Cleland will choreograph the show.
Public performance times are 7:30 p.m. Dec. 19 and 20 and 2:30 p.m. Dec. 21. There also will be two daytime shows for area schoolchildren.
Tickets are $35 for all premium seating and $29 for adults, $25 for students, senior citizens and military, and $19 for children ages 12 and younger.

Monster truck shows set for Covelli Centre
The Toughest Monster Truck Tour comes to the Covelli Centre for two days.
The monster truck show has been a regular attraction at the Youngstown arena since 2012.
Show times are 7:30 p.m. Jan. 30, 2026, and 3 p.m. Jan. 31.
Tickets go on sale 10 a.m. Friday at the arena’s Southwoods Health box office and through Ticketmaster. An online-only presale starts 10 a.m. today with the password TMTTCC26.

Glenn Miller Orchestra coming to Stambaugh
The Glenn Miller Orchestra will play a Christmas concert Dec. 16 at Stambaugh Auditorium.
The 7:30 p.m. show will feature a mix of holiday favorites as well as swing and jazz numbers performed by the orchestra that has been performing Miller’s big band arrangements since 1956.

TCHS presents program on preservation
A program on “Preserving Family Memories” is scheduled at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, 444 Mahoning Ave. NW, Warren.
Savannah Moss, collections and research manager with the Trumbull County Historical Society, and Kate Pfouts, TCHS archivist, will discuss preserving family items such as photographs and documents.

A Halloween display will be set up at the Harriet Taylor Upton House, 380 Mahoning Ave. NW, Warren, this weekend.
Upton Association President Sue Stoddart collects Halloween decorations and will fill the first floor of the house with Halloween-related items. It is not a scary, gruesome haunted experience but a family-friendly fun time.

Local hauntings part of program
A program on “Hauntings of Trumbull County” is scheduled at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library’s Cortland Branch, 578 Lakeview Drive.
Author Wendy Koile, whose books include “Lake Erie Murder & Mayhem” and “Disasters of Ohio’s Lake Erie Islands,” will recount tales of ghostly encounters, unsolved mysteries and local lore that refuse to stay buried.

Silent horror classic screened
The 1922 silent film “Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror” with live organ accompaniment will be shown at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Stambaugh Auditorium, 1000 Fifth Ave., Youngstown.
Directed by German filmmaker F.W. Murnau, “Nosferatu” is an unauthorized adaptation of Bram Stoker’s “Dracula.” Playing the E.M. Skinner Pipe Organ will be Jay Spencer.

SMARTS preps for annual dinner
Tickets are on sale now for the annual SMARTS Family Dinner.

First Fridays Youngstown coincides with ghost tour
Phelps Street Gateway downtown will be the site for October’s First Fridays Youngstown.
The event runs from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and will include music by November Loop, vendors and community organizations and family-friendly games and activities. Admission is free.

Warren library offers sneak peek of upcoming Ghost Walk

Chorus is seeking singers for ‘Messiah’ performance
Warren Civic Chorus is inviting singers ages 14 and older to be a part of its 65th performance of Handel’s “Messiah.
Rehearsals start Monday at St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish – Blessed Sacrament Church, 3020 Reeves Road, Warren, and run from 7 to 9 p.m. every Monday until the Dec. 7 concert at the church. The chorus will perform accompanied by members of the Warren Civic Chamber Orchestra.
The chorus is directed by Hae-Jong Lee and uses the Schirmers score. Those who don’t have a copy of the score can purchase one at any rehearsal.
