Firestone concert series starts Sunday
The Idabelle Firestone Fall Concert Series starts at 3 p.m. Sunday with Oak Street String Band, the Keller Family Singers and Sassa Brass.
It is the first of five September concerts. Other performances include Firestone Symphony Orchestra on Sept. 7; the Keystone State Gospel Quartet on Sept 14; and Ballet Western Reserve on Sept. 21.
The first four performances will be at Harvey S. Firestone Recreational Park, 338 E. Park Ave., Columbiana.
The series concludes with two concerts by The Texas Tenors at 3 and 7 p.m. at Columbiana High School.
Admission for all events is free, although organizers are accepting donations to offset the cost for the Texas Tenors.

JCC set to host author talk Sept. 8
Lauren Camp will discuss via Zoom the lives of a first-generation Arab American girl and her Jewish-Iraqi parents at a program Sept. 8 at the Jewish Community Center of Youngstown, 505 Gypsy Lane.
Camp’s book “One Hundred Hungers” tells overlapping stories of food and ritual, immigration and adaptation, evoking her father’s boyhood in 1940s Baghdad, a time when tensions began to emerge along ethnic and religious lines. Coffee and dessert will be at 6:30 p.m., followed by the Zoom presentation.

Warren library hosting Lake Erie shipwrecks program Tuesday
A presentation on “Erie Lights and Lighthouse Lore” is scheduled at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, 444 Mahoning Ave. NW, Warren.
Guest speakers Mike and Georgann Wachter are the authors of “Erie Wrecks and Lights,” “Erie Wrecks East,” and “Erie Wrecks West,” and have published a Lake Erie shipwreck chart with over 360 GPS shipwreck coordinates.

Paladin Brewing turns 10
Paladin Brewing will celebrate its 10th anniversary from 2 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the brewery, 6520 Mahoning Ave. Austintown.
Live music throughout the day will feature Diane Drapcho at 3 p.m., Jon Pappas at 4 p.m., Jim Ray at 5 p.m., Dombrowski at 6 p.m. and the David Ward Project at 7 p.m. Other activities include a keg toss, an escape room and Paladin trivia.

Final event set at Sutliff Museum’s current home
The Trumbull County Historical Society will present the final program at the Sutliff Museum before it relocates to the Morgan History Center.
Sutliff After Hours will feature untold stories about the Sutliff family, a look back at the museum history and offer a glimpse at its future.

Cycling group offering winery ride Sept. 14
The Out-Spokin’ Wheelmen will visit two Trumbull County wineries on the 52nd Northeast Ohio Century bicycle tour Sept. 14.
Riders will meet at the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge, 6400 state Route 46, Mecca. The 10-mile route will have a stop at the Greene Eagle Winery, and the 26.5 -mile route will have a stop at the Hartford Hills Winery. There also will be two 50-mile ride options.
The cost is $30 in advance and $35 the day of the event, and lunch is provided. Helmets are required, and support vehicles will be available to assist riders until 5 p.m. To register or for more information, go to outspokinwheelmen.com.

Blues, Brews & BBQ coming
Shemeika Copeland will headline the inaugural Blues, Brews & BBQ Festival, presented by 7 17 Credit Union at the Warren Community Amphitheatre on Oct. 4.
Also performing will be “King” Solomon Hicks, Damian Knapp, Cleveland’s Backstreet Blues Band, Sacksville Rhythm & Blues Band, Jazz in the Park Allstars, Norman Nardini, Aaron McCoy and Friends, and Warren Community Gospel Choir.
The event will feature BBQ vendors from Northeast Ohio competing for top honors and a curated selection of drinks, including beers and bourbons.

Pickle Fest at Penguin City
Penguin City Brewing Company, 460 E. Federal St.,Youngstown, will host Youngstown Pickle Fest on Saturday.
The family-friendly and dog-friendly event will have pickle-themed foods, drinks, vendors, live music, contests and activities.

Rock frontmen team up for concert
The lead singers from three ’90s bands will team up for a tour coming to Packard Music Hall that will mix their hits with holiday songs.
Ezra Ray Hart features Kevin Griffin from Better than Ezra, whose modern rock hits include “Good,” “In the Blood,” “King of New Orleans” and “Desperately Waiting”; Mark McGrath from Sugar Ray, whose hits include “Fly,” “Every Morning,” “Someday” and “When It’s Over”; and Emerson Hart of Tonic, best known for “If You Could Only See.”
The “’90s Hits & Xmas Riffs” tour will start Nov. 20 in Pittsburgh, and Warren will be one of the first stops with an 8 p.m. show Nov. 22 at Packard Music Hall. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m.

Warwick announces Warren date
Five-time Grammy winner Dionne Warwick will perform Oct. 24 at the Robins Theatre.
Warwick’s hits include “Do You Know the Way to San Jose,” “Say a Little Prayer,” “Walk on By” and “Alfie.” She joined Elton John, Stevie Wonder and Gladys Knight on the song “That’s What Friends Are For,” which raised money for AIDS research. She also was one of the vocalists on charity single “We Are the World” and performed at Live Aid.

Braceville museum offers quilting workshops
Quilting workshops are scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Braceville African American Heritage Museum, 1250 Chestnut St. SW.
Participants can choose from three patterns of a 12-inch-by-12-inch quilting square to be sewn as they learn about the Underground Railroad quilting pattern.

Friendly Squares offer dance lessons
The Friendly Squares, a local square dance group dedicated to keeping alive the American art form of square dancing, will begin a new year of weekly lessons.
The introductory session will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Sept. 9 at the Niles SCOPE Center, 14 E. State St., Niles, and subsequent lessons will be offered weekly. The cost is $6.

TCHS plans downtown Warren walking tour
The Trumbull County Historical Society will offer a downtown Warren walking tour on “Shopping in the 1950s” at 10 a.m. Aug. 16.
The guided tour will focus on the charm of the classic shops and storefronts that filled downtown in the 1950s.

McGuffey program looks at Apollo 17 mission
A program on the Apollo 17 mission will be offered by the William Holmes McGuffey Historical Society as part of its Memories of a Lifetime series.
Doug Fowler, a retired lecturer in astronomy and physics who taught at the University of Wisconsin and Youngstown State University, will discuss the last human mission to the moon in 1972, considered one of the great geological expeditions in the history of science.
The program starts at 10 a.m. Aug. 16 at Denny’s meeting room, 4020 Belmont Ave., Liberty. Admission is $10 for McGuffey members and $15 for nonmembers. Reservations are suggested and can be made by calling 330-726-8277.

Danza brings songs, stories to Robins Theatre
Tony Danza brings “Standards and Stories” to the Robins Theatre on Oct. 17.
Danza, best known for his roles in the long-running television series “Taxi” and “Who’s the Boss,” will be backed by a four-piece band for an evening of standards from the Great American Songbook and stories about his life and personal connection to the music.
Tickets for the 8 p.m. show range from $48 to $89, plus fees, and go on sale 10 a.m. Friday.
Christmas show announced for Stambaugh
“Christmas in the Air” comes to Stambaugh Auditorium on Dec. 5.
The production is described as “a snow globe come to life” with synchronized Rockette-style dancers, singers and actors as well as an appearance by Santa Claus and his elves. It mixes classic holiday songs with modern-day favorites.

Packard hosts Chris Young
holiday tour
Country singer Chris Young, who has headlined shows at both the Covelli Centre and Canfield Fair, will bring his first-ever holiday tour to Packard Music Hall on Dec. 6.
“It Must Be Christmas — An Acoustic Evening with Chris Young” will feature songs from Young’s 2016 holiday album as well as his hits. Young also will release his 10th studio album, “I Didn’t Come Here to Leave,” on Oct. 17.
Young has had more than 20 top 40 country hits since 2008, including a dozen that topped Billboard’s country or country airplay charts.
Young made his first area appearance in 2011 at the Covelli Centre, opening for Miranda Lambert. He returned as a headliner the following year. He played the Canfield Fair in 2017.
