Packard band preps for first outdoor show of season
The W.D. Packard Concert Band takes the music outdoors with its first performance of the year at Packard Music Hall’s south lawn bandshell.
“Honoring the Greatest Generation” is the theme of the concert, which will be conducted by Galen S. Karriker.
The program will include Paul Dukas’ “La’Peri” fanfare, Eric Coates’ “The Dam Busters” march, James Swearingen’s “Lest We Forget,” Kenneth Alford’s “Army of the Nile” and “Eagle Squadron” marches, Brian Balmages’ “Journal of a Soldier,” Paul Lavalle’s “Band of America” march, John Barnes Chance’s “Variations on a Korean Folk Song,” Julie Giroux’s “The Greatest Generation” and a medley of Glenn Miller favorites.
The concert starts at 7 p.m. Sunday outside Packard, 1703 Mahoning Ave. NW, Warren. Admission is free, and funding is provided by the W.D. Packard trust.
