Christ Episcopal hosts award-winning organist
Organist Colin MacKnight will perform Friday at Christ Episcopal Church in Warren.
MacKnight is director of music at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Little Rock, Arkansas, and tours as a concert organist.
He received his bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees from The Juilliard School, studying organ performance with Paul Jacobs.
MacKnight has won prizes from the 2019 Paris Music Competition, 2017 West Chester University International Organ Competition, 2016 Albert Schweitzer Organ Competition, 2016 Arthur Poister Scholarship Competition, 2013 Rodgers North American Classical Organ Competition, first place at the 2016 AGO Northeast Regional Competition and the Clarence Snyder Third Prize in the 2016 and 2019 Longwood Gardens International Organ Competitions.
The concert, which is sponsored by Arts on Atlantic and the Youngstown chapter of the American Guild of Organists, will include organ works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Felix Mendelssohn and Rachel Laurin.
The program starts at 7 p.m. Friday at Christ Episcopal, 2627 Atlantic St. NE. A free will offering will be collected.
