Westminster announces 2024-25 Celebrity Series
The Westminster College Celebrity Series will range from doo-wop to disco for its 2024-25 season.
Five performances are scheduled for on the New Wilmington, Pa., campus. The season includes:
Sept. 21 — The Doo Wop Project. The group featuring five Broadway veterans and a backing band performs doo-wop favorites such as “16 Candles” and “In the Still of the Night” as well as contemporary songs by such artists as Adele and Garth Brooks that are given doo- wop arrangements.
Nov. 1 — ABBAmania and Night Fever. The ABBA tribute act performs such chart toppers as “Dancing Queen” and “Mamma Mia” while the Bee Gees tribute act performs disco favorites “Stayin’ Alive,” “How Deep Is Your Love” and “You Should Be Dancing” as well as other hits by the Gibb brothers.
Dec. 18 — “Christmas with the Tenors.” The Tenors bring their operatic pop approach to holiday songs, both familiar (“Christmastime Is Here,” “I’ve Got My Love to Keep Me Warm”) and original (“Miracle,” “Christmas Miracle”). The group filmed a PBS special in 2012, and won a JUNO Award for adult contemporary album of the year in its native Canada.
March 29, 2025 — Chris Mann’s “Bennett: From Gershwin to Gaga.” Mann, who finished fourth on season two of NBC’s “The Voice” and toured for two years in the title role of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “The Phantom of the Opera,” will perform the music of Tony Bennett.
May 3, 2025 — Neil Berg’s 50 Years of Rock and Roll Part 3. Berg returns with the third installment of his show that uses stories and songs to tell the history of rock, from the prerock songs of the 1940s to the MTV era in the 1980s. It features hits by Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley, The Who, Aerosmith, Bruce Springsteen and Journey.
All performances start at 7:30 p.m. at Westminster College’s Orr Auditorium.
