First Wednesday reading features northeast Ohio poets
Poets Roger Craik and Dave Lucas will be the featured readers for Lit Youngstown’s next First Wednesday Reader Series event.
Craik was born in England, but has lived in the United States since 1991 and is based in Ashtabula. He has published five full-length poetry books with another in progress, and he recently was awarded second prize in the Pablo Neruda International Poetry Award.
Lucas, who lives in Cleveland, is the author of “Weather,” which received the 2012 Ohioana Book Award for Poetry. From 2018 to 2019, he served as the poet laureate of Ohio. He is a cofounder of Cleveland Book Week and Brews + Prose at Market Garden Brewery.
The reading will be co-hosted by Liz Hicks, and an open mic will follow.
It starts at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Westside Bowl, 2617 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown, in its Trophy Room, which is accessible only by stairs. Admission is free.
